Livestock production in the area includes beef and dairy cattle, sheep, hogs, buffalo, elk and emu.

Oakes offers full veterinary care service and supplies for both large and small animals. A haul-in facility, clinic with in-house lab, grooming, boarding and 24-hour call services are available.
