The new $1.2M Oakes Swimming Pool opened July 2004 after a year of fundraising efforts in the community. Currently efforts are underway to complete the landscaping around the outer perimeter of the pool. Oakes participated in NDSU's "Life in North Dakota" pilot project to develop the first phase landscape architectural plans of the grounds. The first phase landscape architecture plans were implemented by the Oakes Garden Club and various other volunteers in the community.
The pool is managed by an elected group of dedicated volunteer Park Board members.
Please contact us for current schedule or find them located on the Parks & Recreation Website at http://oakesparks.tripod.com/id1.html
The Oakes Swimming Pool was originally built through WPA in 1939 and rennovated in 1978 by local pool fundraising drive efforts of the community. The 2004 pool project was completed by Helms & Associates, Civil Engineers & Land Surveryers.
