Community Connection April 13, 2023

Things to celebrate…

Let’s celebrate what amazing things we can accomplish when we all work together! Last Saturday, we unveiled the completed Community Puzzle and we have just loved the feedback we’ve heard about the project! If you missed the original unveiling, it will be on display and available to view anytime that coincides with the Chamber of Commerce hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 am to 5 pm and Thursdays from 9 am to 1 pm. It will be on display at Growing Small Towns through Irrigation Days weekend so be sure to invite your friends and family down to see it, too!

News to know…

The Main Street Initiative (MSI) is a program created by Governor Burgum to support local leaders in making better planning decisions and to more easily attract new residents and workforce. One of the things available to anyone at no charge is regular MSI Community Chats. On Tuesday, April 18 from 10-11 am CST, hear about how collaboration with the next generation of leaders supports the vibrancy and attraction of the community for the current and future workforce; learn what a community needs to consider to grow and attract people of all ages. Go to https://www.nd.gov/living-nd/main-street-nd to register for this chat and bookmark the site to stay up-to-date with all upcoming events and training that’s offered!

Ideas to spread…

When we hear a new idea, it makes sense to spend some time up-front thinking about whether or the not idea will actually work. People pay thousands of dollars for feasibility studies and market analysis to determine if the conditions are right for a new idea to be financially viable. But financial viability isn’t the only thing that determines whether a new idea is a good idea. Sometimes, the ideas that don’t look good on paper still have merit and are worthy of consideration. If this weren’t true, how would anything that hadn’t been fully vetted and tested before ever come to fruition? In order to set new precedents and push new frontiers, sometimes, crazy ideas have to be pursued. As a wise man once said, “All new ideas seem crazy until they’re done.”
