Oakes Enhancement, Inc. (OEI) is the local economic development organization for the area. In addition to assisting business development, the organization developed industrial park infrastructure.
Our Mission
Oakes Enhancement, Inc. (OEI) shall create an environment that stimulates commercial, industrial, and residential growth and development while enhancing the quality of life in the greater Oakes, North Dakota trade area.
Do Business Here
Why is Oakes a great place to do business? Because we take pride in offering a high quality of life. For us, sustaining a safe, clean, and welcoming community with excellent schools, medical services, parks, and recreation opportunities matters. Not to mention, we’re the commerce and cultural hub of the region. Located in southeast North Dakota 60 miles south of I-94 on Highway 1, we’re able to sustain a diverse mix of businesses while providing a place where people actually want to live.
The purpose and work of OEI are constantly being re-evaluated as things change, but the focus remains constant—making sure Oakes is viable for generations to come.
OEI offers a variety of resources and services to current and prospective businesses. Primarily, OEI supports businesses by providing gap financing rather than acting as a lead lender.

Since its inception, OEI has financially supported over 70 local businesses through its existing programs with nearly $100,000 being dispersed specifically through BUMP (Business Update and Maintenance Program) applications, which support businesses in updating the appearance of their existing business.
OEI also grants funding to local non-profits through their charitable gaming program. In 20 years, the organization has granted more than half a million dollars.
The needs and interests of Oakes residents are at the forefront of the thoughts and actions of Oakes Enhancement, Inc.
