Stuff to do…

This coming weekend is SVACA in Fort Ransom! Go shop local vendors and enjoy a beautiful day in the valley and then come back to Oakes from 3 - 7 pm to enjoy our local wine walk! Participating businesses will specials to shop along with food to pair with the wines they’ll be sampling. Tickets are just $30. Visit the Chamber to get your tickets in advance.

Things to celebrate…

Today, we’re celebrating the Southeast Region Career and Technology Center in Oakes! Our kids are so fortunate to have a place where they can learn hands-on skills and participate in the clubs facilitated through SRCTC like FFA, DECA, and HOSA. These experiences give kids another avenue to pursue their passions and learn key character-building skills other than sports and we’re thrilled to have them right here in Oakes. Thank you to all the teachers and staff that make it possible!

News to know…

Tonight, at 8:30 pm, you have the opportunity to participate in a virtual listening session about the lack of affordable and accessible childcare in North Dakota. Pre-registration is required so go to the North Dakota Childcare Action Alliance website to register. Childcare is an everyone problem. The statewide lack of childcare is keeping many people out of the workforce and with 30,000 open jobs to fill, we can’t afford to have capable, qualified people not engaged in the workforce.

Ideas to spread…

When was the last time you did something for the first time? It’s a great question to ask yourself and the people you care about because trying new things is a great way to keep your mind fresh, get a taste of novelty, and expand your thinking. It’s also like a muscle; the more you try new things, the more you get used to that experience and it becomes easier. Start with something simple, like trying new foods, and see where an adventurous spirit takes you!
